Brothers Rudolf and Adolf Dassler founded the Dassler Brothers Shoe Company in 1924 under joint ownership and later in 1948 the company was divided after a personal fall out. Rudolf took on Puma while Adolf created the famous Adidas brand. Puma took off instantly, with pro footballers wearing the football boots in matches spreading the craze like wildfire. In 1952 Dassler created the first boot with screw in studs which sparked the highly successful relationship between Puma and football that continues today. Continuing the success of football footwear, Puma also created a variation of athletic shoes as well as functional and fashionable casuals.
