Lonsdale
Founded in London in 1960, Lonsdale started out as a boxing equipment company later branching out into footwear and clothing. Created by ex- boxer Bernard Hart and named after Hugh Cecil Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale who set up organised fights with contestants wearing gloves after three boxers lost their lives in bare knuckle fights.
Forwarding onto today, Lonsdale trainers are still popular as ever and now owned by Sports Direct- a sports clothing, footwear and accessories stockist which help promote the footwear from casual as well as sports angles.
